Trees are very important. They are responsible for the production of oxygen, removing carbon dioxide from the air and creating some of nature’s most beautiful scenery.
A group of trees is known as a forest or a wood. When there are many trees, the term ‘densely populated’ forest is used.
As well as their benefits to the environment, trees are used in many day to day objects, from furniture to ship building to paper.
We must be careful with the number of trees that are cut down though. Deforestation in some areas has traditionally been and still is too active and tees are not able to regenerate as quickly as they are cut down. Sustainable forestry and reusing (reclaiming) wood whenever possible is preferred.
